Saturday, 14 December 2019 09:05

MUNRFE delegations going for international conferences traditionally visit a few UN structures, Russian representations, and other institutions. Apart from the successful participation in the International Model UN Malaysia 2019, Alina Medved, Daria Kurushina, Oleg Powzyk, Polina Dolgopolova, and the team adviser - Daria Zlydar, attended the meetings with the representatives of the United Nations Global Compact Network, the World Federation of United Nations Associations, the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Kuala Lumpur, and the University Tunku Abdul Rahman.

At the United Nations Global Compact Network (UNDCN), the delegation had an opportunity to get acquainted with the UNGCN Advisor Mr. Shak Shahrul, they discussed the promotion of Sustainable Development Goals in Malaysia, especially SDG 16 and 17, the involvement of Malaysian private sector and businesses in SDGs realization, and the upcoming SDGs forum in Malaysia. Also, the Malaysia team met with the Youth Advisory Council Member for Asia at the World Federation of United Nations Associations Mr. Eshaan Menon. The topic of the discussion was MUN in Malaysia and its specific features.

Besides, the delegation of MUNRFE had an opportunity to visit the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Kuala Lumpur – the official Embassy of the Russian Federation. During the meeting, the Head of the Centre, Counsellor Dr. Ayrat A. Akhmetov outlined the work of the Centre, its goals and initiatives aimed at the promotion of Russian culture and language in Malaysia. In addition, Dr. Akhmetov introduced MUNRFE delegates to the Malaysia-Russia student exchange programs and wished the delegates further success during the Conference.

Moreover, the delegation was granted with a chance to meet with the Assistant Professor of University Tunku Abdul Rahman, Deputy Dean Pr. Foo Meow Yee and his assistant Ms. Alyona Belozertseva. The delegates found out about the influence of Brexit on the global economy as well as discussed Russia-Malaysia economic cooperation and its major aspect - student exchange programs.

Through years, MUNRFE has turned trips abroad to participate in international conferences into a leadership program, within which delegates gain experience of official meetings with diplomats and politicians, discuss various important topics, gain new knowledge, and, of course, take part in huge international Model UN conferences. MUNRFE expresses its deepest gratitude to all its partners for constant support.
