The history of Sakhalin club goes back to February 2003, when eight Sakhalin Schoolstudents, inspired by Jeffrey Lindstrom, first Managing Director of MUNRFE, started their MUN activities on the island. For 2 years of its existence the branch has expanded significantly to an independent organization, involving University students from SakhSU, Gymnasia #1, 2. The team took part in two MUNRFE International Conferences and one Regional IT Conference playing active role in the work of subsequent committees.

The 9 place from 25 participants at III MUNRFE International Conference in Irkutsk was the result of Sakhmun team BHAG.

During its existence the branch conducted 3 MUN Schools, organized Jeffrey Lindstrom, ISD professor’s trip to Sakhalin, realized one Social Project, aimed to help 2 Nevelsk asylums. In May 2005, within “Integration of MUN debates into Schools of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Sakhalin MUN team has been given an opportunity to read a number of lectures about leadership Deto the group of schoolchildren reposing in the Summer Camp “Forest Lake”. Besides practicing teaching talent MUN team tried to estimate the probability of organizing their own Sakhalin MUN summer camp. Currently, 4 Sakhalin School-students take part in 4th MUNRFE Firestarter Summer Camp.

That was brief history of the first SakhMUN club. Members of the club achieved great results and now all the representatives of SakhMUN, as another clubs’ are successful men. They are the best example of that, what we must strive to.

History of second SakhMUN club began in 2007, 3rd of April. Member of MD team Zakhar Ivanisov came to Sakhalin and organized presentation in Sakhalin Regional Library. Also he led first trainings on leadership. 4 days the spent in hard and useful trainings.

April and May we spent in debating with participating of foreigners. That was fruitful time. We discussed serious themes (clonning, elimination of nuclear weapon and etc.).

On 16-20th of July managing director Maria Kabalyk came to Sakhalin. She took us on exhibition of FRAEK, where we met with another NGO and Youth organizations, on the whole, that was excited and very useful for us! On 19th Masha spent with us all the day, she showed us many information about previous Conferences and other clubs, gave a lot of documents and books, which will stand in good stead to us.

In 2007 Marina Pak participated in Firestarter, it was really great experience for her and for all our team.

In September MUN school was conducted with help of Zakhar Ivanisov.

In December 2007 two delegations (they represented Sudan and France) participated in VI International Conference MUN in Blagoveshchensk

In February 2009 the programme Task Force (Galina Saukova and Alexander Pushkarev) was realized.
